Verify AI answers with original document references.
Overview¶
Every AI answer that uses document information includes source citations. These help you:
- Verify accuracy of information
- Access original context
- Share references with team members
- Build trust in AI responses
Viewing Sources¶
Source Button¶
After each AI response:

Look for the Sources button below the answer.

Click to expand the source list.

Each source shows:
- Document name
- Relevant section or page
- Brief excerpt
Source Panel¶
The expanded sources panel displays:

Opening Source Documents¶
Click to View¶

Click on any source reference.

The document opens in the PDF viewer.

The relevant section is highlighted.
Navigate in Document¶
Once in the viewer:
- Scroll to see surrounding context
- Use search to find related content
- Download for offline review
Citation Types¶
Direct Quotes¶
When the AI quotes text directly:
"The contractor shall complete all electrical work within 30 days" (Contract Section 4.2)
Paraphrased Information¶
When the AI summarizes content:
Based on the inspection report, three areas require remediation...

Multiple Sources¶
When combining information:
The timeline shows electrical work scheduled for March (Project Schedule) with a budget of €45,000 (Cost Estimate v2)
Source Quality¶
Strong Sources¶
High-confidence answers come from:
- Official specifications
- Signed contracts
- Approved drawings
- Formal reports
Weaker Sources¶
Lower-confidence sources include:
- Email correspondence
- Draft documents
- Meeting notes
- Informal communications
Source Reliability
The AI doesn't distinguish between draft and final documents. Always verify critical information against approved versions.
No Sources Available¶
Sometimes answers don't include sources:
General Knowledge¶
For common construction knowledge:
"Concrete typically cures in 28 days"
No project-specific source needed.
No Documents Found¶
When asking about undocumented topics:
"I couldn't find information about this in your project documents."
Consider uploading relevant documents.
Sharing Citations¶
Copy Reference¶

Click the copy icon next to a source.

Paste the reference in emails or reports.

Open the source document.

Copy the URL from your browser.

Troubleshooting¶
Source Not Loading¶
If a source document won't open:
- Refresh the page
- Check your internet connection
- Verify you have access to the document
Wrong Section Highlighted¶
If the highlighted section seems incorrect:
- Read the surrounding context
- Use document search for key terms
- The AI may have synthesized information
Source Seems Outdated¶
If information appears old:
- Check document upload date
- Verify you have the latest version
- Upload updated documents if needed
