Work without internet connection.

Offline Indicators

Status Bar

The app shows connection status:

Pending Changes

When you have unsynced changes:

  • Badge shows pending count
  • Items marked as "Pending Sync"
  • Upload icon on photos

Working Offline

Viewing Data

Previously accessed data is cached:

  • Recent items
  • Viewed documents
  • Downloaded reports
  • Project information

Creating Items

Create items offline:

  1. Tap + to create new item.

  2. Fill in details.

  3. Add photos.

  4. Save locally.

  5. Syncs when online.

Taking Photos

Photos work fully offline:

  1. Capture photos normally.

  2. Attach to items.

  3. Photos upload when connected.


Syncing

Automatic Sync

When connection returns:

  1. App detects connectivity.

  2. Pending items upload.

  3. Photos transfer.

  4. New data downloads.

Manual Sync

To force sync:

  1. Pull down on any list.

  2. Wait for sync to complete.

  3. Check pending count.

Sync Priority

Data syncs in this order:

  1. New items (highest priority)
  2. Item updates
  3. Photos
  4. Session recordings

Cache Management

What's Cached

Automatically cached:

  • Items from last 30 days
  • Recently viewed documents
  • Project metadata
  • User preferences

Cache Size

Cache uses device storage:

  • Typical: 50-200 MB
  • Heavy use: 500+ MB
  • Manage in device settings

Clearing Cache

To free space:

  1. Go to device Settings > Apps > SiteWhiz.

  2. Tap Clear Cache.

  3. Data re-downloads when online.

Clearing cache removes offline access until you reconnect and data re-downloads.


Conflict Resolution

What Causes Conflicts

Conflicts occur when:

  • Same item edited offline by two people
  • Server data changed while offline
  • Sync interrupted mid-process

How Conflicts Resolve

SiteWhiz handles most conflicts automatically:

  • Last edit typically wins
  • Both versions may be kept
  • You'll be notified of conflicts

Manual Resolution

For important conflicts:

  1. Review both versions.

  2. Choose which to keep.

  3. Or merge manually.


Best Practices

Before Going Offline

Prepare for offline work:

  1. Open the project to cache data.

  2. Browse key items to cache them.

  3. View important documents.

  4. Ensure app is updated.

While Offline

Tips for offline productivity:

  • Create items as normal
  • Take photos liberally
  • Save drafts frequently
  • Don't rely on AI features

After Returning Online

Complete your sync:

  1. Open app with connection.

  2. Wait for sync indicator.

  3. Verify items uploaded.

  4. Check for any conflicts.


Troubleshooting

Data Not Syncing

If changes won't sync:

  1. Verify internet connection.

  2. Check for error messages.

  3. Force close and reopen app.

  4. Try manual sync (pull down).

Missing Offline Data

If data isn't available offline:

  1. You may not have viewed it recently.

  2. Cache may have been cleared.

  3. Open data while online to cache it.

Sync Taking Too Long

For slow syncs:

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi if possible.

  2. Large photos take longer.

  3. Many pending items queue up.

  4. Be patient or sync in batches.
